The paradox of choice
Faced with almost unlimited choice, we hesitate more, compare endlessly and end up less satisfied with what we choose. On a swiping app, every profile becomes replaceable, and everyone feels replaceable in return.
Narrowing the choice does not narrow your chances: it gives each meeting its value back.
What makes a couple last rarely shows in a photo
Shared values, life plans (children, where to live, the place of work), the way you handle disagreements or your need for independence matter far more over time than first visual impressions.
That is the logic of matchmaking agencies: start with what matters, before you meet.
- Compatible priorities
- Plans heading in the same direction
- Ways of loving that reassure each other
- Lifestyles that fit together
Meet rather than message
Writing encourages the image we build of the other person, often far from reality. The longer the exchange goes on before meeting, the greater the risk of disappointment.
Meeting soon, in a simple and safe setting, tells you in an hour what weeks of messages never will.
The Aparté method
An in-depth questionnaire, one person introduced to you each week, chosen because compatibility is strong in both directions, and a first date arranged for you. The conversation opens afterwards, if you both want to see each other again.
